    Rude presenter on In Tune

I've just emailed In Tune to complain about the presenter, Suzy Klein, cutting off Garrick Ohlsson very abruptly this afternoon (at about 4.45pm), and wondered if anyone else heard and thought the same. He was giving a thorough answer about Busoni's eclecticism, only to be interrupted mid-sentence with a "Thank you very much for coming on this evening". No acknowledgement or response to what he'd been saying, suggesting strongly lack of interest and patience. It's not as if In Tune is a jam-packed 30-minute news programme - all she did was then put on a piece of music.

I just found it really discourteous, and to his credit he was very polite about it.

I've always thought SK comes across as totally insincere, but this was just the height of rudeness.

Maybe it was just panic because they were overrunning? Though that sounds as if it needed to be rather more ept.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Are there degrees of eptness? Or is it epticity?

Perhaps the whole thing was en eptical illusion (or even delusion)?

That's partly my point. They/she had another two and a quarter hours to adjust their timings - absolutely no need to truncate Mr Ohlsson in mid-flow. How tightly scripted does the musical content of the programme need to be?

I see in passing that Milos Karadaglic was a guest yet again - can't imagine SK cutting him short, somehow...

I guessed she had a preselected slab of the Busoni concerto to fit in before the 5 o'clock news, and was in danger of over-running.

But Mr Fafferty hasn't got the sack yet when he goes to the news late, which isn't unknown.

I quite agree it sounded rather rude today though.

She made a right hash of interviewing him last time [?] she had him on - asking him about his allegedly obsessive cleanliness/tidiness, which he quite rightly refused to discuss, saying she shouldn't ask him that, it was embarrassing. She did admire his right hand fingernails.

COTW is not on this week or next due to the broadcasting of the Edinburgh International Festival concert at 1100h. I must say that I for one am enjoying the extended "drivetime" programming as it is now actually being broadcast when I am driving rather than finishing more or less at the same time as I am leaving work!

Sorry, was rather ambiguous. Meant to indicate SK was rather rude - Come back Mr Fafferty, all is forgiven. Clear now?
