The Radio Times, can it sink any lower than this week's issue?

if you're not averse to paying for things online [which I appreciate a lot of people are], the £28.60 for 26 issues Radio Times subscription offers still seem to be around, which with the new cover price would save you 50p per issue with the added convenience of home delivery.

............ not that I shall be renewing my subscription, I find I can navigate my way round the online listings well enough

So for 15 hours every week only five pieces are listed. Ditto for the 9.00-12.00 slot on Sundays, where at the moment only the Bach cantata is listed, and we’re not even told when it’s being played.
Crikey! We've found somebody who can actually bear to listen to Radio3 in the mornings!!

Seriously though, mornings on 3 are now nothing more than a slightly dumbed-up version of Classic FM. The lack of full listings really doesn't bother me, since I know it will be the usual mix of popular classics and inane chat. I'm not sure even the presenters know what they'll be playing until a day or two before broadcast.

Up to a point, Lord Copper – I’m very selective. I never listen in before the dreaded Brainteaser is out of the way (my blood-pressure’s too precious), and very rarely to the ‘celebrity’ spot. But, as I’ve mentioned before on these boards, there are often some very good chamber music performances in the slot from about 11.15 to 12.00, completely untrailed in either RT or the R3 online listings. I sent a complaining email to Rob Cowan about the latter some time ago, but got no reply.

Oh yes, if I am listening in the morning, the Brainteaser usually has me reaching for the off button......

And the habit of vague detailing is spreading to TV. I have seen a slot for 'A concerto from 2012 Proms' and no further details.
