The cultural moron that is Delboy provides a perfect example of the kind of person R3 is attempting to please, with particular regard to Essential Classics. I rather thought this would be something upon which we would easily agree.
I don't feel personally, that this website is just to decry the depths etc, although we all probably agree with you that is the way we feel.

The website also allows us to compare recordings, head up future concerts and talk to like minded people.
For elderly or lonely people it is a link to the outside world. And you can't.and shouldn't try, to keep humour out of the mix.

I assure you I enjoy the programme you mention without feeling in the least like one of the unfortunate Del Boy's friends or family.

Sorry if we have let you down and best wishes from salymap

As do I, salymap! Surely comedy series - and horror movies for that matter - allow us to rejoice, or at least be secretly relieved, that the people we're watching are not like us, and that we are not suffering their fate.

I agree with the two previous posts, plus I think that your word 'perfect' is the cue for agreement, ok. Delboy is a brilliant comic creation by writer and actor. It's that
creation we enjoy - for my part, especially some 'perfect' word play by the writer. I don't regard savouring that as being in any way inconsistent with urging R3 to do away with some crassness (in their early morning programming in particular)

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

On a more personal note.....may I say that, were it not for Uncle Albert, I would know a lot less about submarine warfare than I do.

              ... and for me, too.

I would also add the suggestion that, if this website were set up just "to decry the depths to which R3 has sunk", I wouldn't be in the slightest bit interested in it. It is also there to praise the station when it gets it right (yes, I know! But it does happen. Sometimes!) and to bring attention to programmes (radio & TV) we might have overlooked. And to discuss the weather, set puzzles, discuss Live performances we've attended, mention our favourite artists and recordings, hobbies, politics, technical matters, illnesses - and gleefully slag each other off in joyous abandon!

Quite ironic. I have attempted on many occasions to initiate a broader discussion on some of the subjects you mention, only to have the topic diverted back into the failings of R3 programming, rob cowan, etc..

Yes, there is a sad tendency (mea as much maxima culpa as the next chap!) to let "the failings" act as a Black Hole in a diverse range of topics and discussions. Apologies.
