Agreed. Interesting/congenial TTN programmes downloaded to the iPad (ditto, episodes of Record Review Extra, COTW & the Martin Handley Sunday mornings) provide the bedrock of round-the-house listening these days

This was a little gem, not previously encountered by me:

      Gustav Uwe Jenner:

Trio in E flat for Clarinet, Horn and Piano (1900)
Performer: James Campbell. Performer: Martin Hackleman. Performer: Jane Coop.

German, 1865 to 1920, and the only formal composition pupil of Brahms, it says. First I've heard of Mr Jenner!

I heard two and a half movements, having tuned in after it had started, and played the game of 'Who wrote this and when?' without checking until the post-performance announcement. I guessed it was either by Brahms or someone close to him: the tonality and phrasing are reminiscent of the Horn Trio.

Someone pressed the wrong button and I was treated to an interview about Chinese app spying at the Olympics during the Schubert Sonata with Imogen Cooper, who I haven't heard play in ages. BTW your phone is listening to see if you utter the words Chinese Communist Party is doomed, or so I understand!

Well spotted Aotearoa. Sounds now has a "This programme has been edited since it was first broadcast" announcement at the start - Auntie deserves Brownie points for being so quick.
It looks to have happened ~66 minutes in "... he found clear evidence that the app now being given to atheletes and others visiting Bejing..." and lasted ~130s; it also said that the "My2022" app had been updated and this behaviour removed.

Oddly enough, when I contacted SOUNDS about the missing first few minutes of Through the Night "Christmas with Karlsson Barock" 22/12/2021, I was basically told hard cheese...

Thank you for contacting BBC Sounds support regarding this episode of Through the Night. I note your report that the theme song stops abruptly and goes straight into the first track.
I have tested this and could not replicate the exact behaviour you described. Upon listening to the programme I can hear it playing the opening track immediately and skipping the introduction entirely. It is likely that there may have been a slight audio issue and that the best option to resolve it was to begin playback from the opening track.
Things like this can happen from time to time as content such as Through the Night is captured directly from live radio and will not always match other broadcasts of the same programme completely, especially if there had been slight alterations to the schedule in the proceeding content causing minor time differences when airing the content.
However, we appreciate your feedback on this and it has been recorded and placed onto our Sounds feedback report to be seen by the Head of Sounds and the various Sounds product teams.
Thanks again for getting in touch.

Jonathan Scott says he found clear evidence that the app now being given to athletes and others visiting beijing contains similar hidden surveillance software. So they have this illegal key word list. It's built into the application. So whenever the application hears this specific keyword or phrase it starts that recording processing. What are the keywords that you say? Some key phrases, our detonator for sale, jump knife for sale, CCP lies, CCP prison. chaos in China and the jasmine revolution, China human rights and democracy information center, China is collapsing, China's eminent q and a, and it just keeps going on. There's 2442 illegal words is what they're actually titled in the code.
I rather liked "China's eminent q and a" as a misheard phrase for imminent coup.

I was awake when this occurred. At first I wondered if I was dreaming - the radio dial indicated the correct wavelength - or had been transported into another dimension!

I suppose it could have been worse - Tearjerker or Gameplay with Baby Queen!
Perhaps Alan Davey is checking if anyone is really listening to TTN?

There are a good many recordings of the Cherubini Requiem, ranging from the far reaches of HIPP to HUPP but I don't think it has ever been the subject of Building a Library.

It features in the Haitink Documentary thread, which was was first brought my attention to the piece:

This morning, there was a very brief interruption, just after 0300, of TTN on R3 of Neil Nunes reading the news on the R4 wavelength.

Maybe the BBC is hacking into its own networks!
