I missed the Brahms and Grieg (now what's that rhyming slang for?) but found the style of this station a bit wearing. Lots of Amsterdam Stardust Quartet then lots of organ music. and so on. Our own TTN does the mix 'n' match better I think (though only in the night!) but this is a useful station to know about. Grazie mille.
So what's wrong with Radio 3 Breakfast?

I have posted this before, but I have found Avro Klassiek pretty good ( http://cultuurgids.avro.nl/front/det...l?item=8176599).
And the other thing I do is record TTN on my Freesat PVR and "broadcast" it around the house usind a little MP3 player fm transmitter - perfection!

I must admit to some confusion arising from Rai's nomenclature, though it seems the 'fd' in radiofd5 relates to filodiffusione, which you'll see in that URL.

Has anyone mentioned the Hungarian Bartók Radio 3? I haven't yet found a playlist but currently playing Peter and the Wolf (in Hungarian ).It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

This is the link for today (15th March): http://www.radio.rai.it/filodiffusio...5_03_2012.html. What I've been doing is updating the date section of that web URL day by day in my browser (just change the final portion immediately before .html to the appropriate date), and Bob's your uncle.

A clunky way to get the information, but that's not your fault. So the Brahms was played by John Browning, Charles Libove and Evelyn Stainbock at the Spoleto Festival in 1963.
I'll imitate you and update the date in the URL as appropriate! Many thanks.
Hold the front page!
I've just found the key (which turns out to be palinsesto). Use this URL to get to the current day, or any other, schedule:

What an interesting use of 'palinsesto', which I've hitherto encountered only in its original meaning of 'palimpsest' and also as a 'window' in economics-related material.

I've now realised that the muffled sound is not the vintage recordings, but the fact that the Rai5 stream is only at 32Kb/s!
A pity, since the music on offer seems consistently quite interesting. Do any of the techies know if there is a higher quality feed to be found?Last edited by Guest; 16-03-12, 09:49.

Interesting speech by the Director of Audio and Music, Tim 'I run BBC Radio' Davie:
"The truth is, when I wake up in the morning I don't want too much interaction. I just want to listen to Radio 4."
(Roughly) "People want to be stretched. They want context."
Please, sir. We think that too (only R3, not R4). We want to be stretched. We want context.
(Speech is all about future media: "The future of radio is on screen.")It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The truth is, when I wake up in the morning I don't want anything to do with the BBC or any other patronising British broadcaster, except maybe the SW weather on teletext
