And another plea for comprehensive playlists. I looked at the schedule for Sunday Morning, it said amongst others there would be works by Martinu and Finzi but nothing by them was listed at all, a mere 4 items by other composers were listed, totally frustrating and I therefore didn't bother to switch on.

In actual fact Ams, I know very little Finzi but on one of the Christmas music threads several people pledged their undying devotion to him, naturally I am now on the look out for any Finzi that might be played, hence my interest in what, and when, it would be in the programme. Ditto Martinu to a lesser extent but I'm blowed if I'm going to sit through two hours for what might just be one bleeding chunk am I?

I must confess I'm discovering more music that's new top me and that delights me via the messages from Board members here than I do from Radio 3 any longer - if possible I listen to them on Spotify first and then make a purchase

It was Gervase de Peyer, Jacqueline du Pre and Daniel Barenboim, Brahms & Beethoven Clarinet Sonatas and Trio. Yes, it was a good recommendation.

Not when I looked, half hour before the start of the programme, wondering whether to switch on or not, all it listed was the first 4, not good enough

I think there's [alas!] a good reason for this. If you see nothing that you might object to, you might turn on in hope/expectation of plenty to soothe and delight. OTOH if you see something that looks less inviting, you don't. So by keeping playlists either incomplete, or retrospective, or non-existent, they minimise the number of people who will not stay with the programme and maximise the 'wallpaper hangers'.

Which is why, one might suppose, the Breakfast programme is no longer plugged on the Facebook page. When it was puffed each day the responses that were being posted were, shall we say, less than favourable. After some skirmishing and rearguard action including an abusive post towards the "cretinous oldies" from a King's College, Cambridge student (o tempora, o mores) the daily playlist was quietly dropped.
It now makes a very occasional appearance but the last posting brought further flak, including a request from a R3 producer that one of the critics should "unfriend" R3 presumably because this was not the kind of response they wanted.
Oh dear, social media is such a two-edged sword.
