Who was doin' The Lambeth Walk?

A lovely brainteaser on Breakfast this morning: witty variations on The Lambeth Walk. But were we told who composed the piece? The variations, I mean, not the original - though come to think of it, I don't recall hearing that information either.

Elsewhere on these pages, I believe I read that the composer was Franz Reizenstein.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thanks for the replies and the information. It was a fun piece. And I've just seen from his Wikipedia entry that he contributed to the Hoffnung concerts too.

Where are today's 'fun' pieces? When I worked in music there were a number of brilliant musicians who seemed to be able to turn their hand to writing about music and pieces like Reizenstein's 'Lambeth Walk'.

I wish I could recall more of their names; there was Fritz Speigl of course, Malcolm Arnold himself, and Gordon Jacob, for starters.
