That new Honeck recording of the Beethoven symphonies 5 & 7 with the Pittsburgh SO on the Reference Recordings label is stunning and just has to be one of my Records of the Year. There will nearly always be different approaches taken over aspects of their work by various conductors and that doesn't bother me. I welcome it!Last edited by Stanfordian; 27-11-15, 22:19.

The different approaches to musical works is one of the great joys of life!
Have a great weekend.

Can't believe this hasn't been discreetly junked along with some of the other morning crap.

I've had my name read out 3 times (so far) and am as insensed as you when my genius goes unacknowledged.
And I'm particularly fond of the Music Played Backwards question because on the rare occasion when it's not bleeding obvious, I can and do cheat. I was particularly red faced when on one occasion I was the only person in the land to get it right and the only person to have their name read out (together with toe-curling personal congratulations from Sarah) after I had recorded it and used my computer software to reverse it and hear it the right way round. Mind, it was a relatively obscure though possibly my favourite movement from a Mozart piano sonata that just happened to be open on my piano and which I had been serendipitously playing the evening before. Clearly my moment of fame just had to be. Even so, I'm pleased for this opportunity to confess.
