if major changes were made to the morning schedule it would be interesting to see how many complaints they received. Perhaps none. Perhaps many. Who knows.

Those days appear to have gone.

Should the BBC reinstate JC because 1,000,000 people have petitioned them to do so?It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

According to the Trust review, there has been a steady decline in the 34-54 age group since he took over. Which, at the very least, means his strategy to attract a new, younger audience hasn't worked.
"By age, Radio 3’s reach has fallen among listeners aged 35-54, who have been seen by the station as ‘replenishers’ to its existing audience. In 2013-14 reach among this age group was down to 2.7%, from 2.9% in 2009-10 and from 3.9% in 2003-04"
We have (patiently ) been sending our arguments to Alan Davey and he has confirmed that he has been reading them 'with interest'. He will do what we suggest if he agrees with us - not because we're a nuisance and it will keep us quiet. It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. Oh... a thought.... did someone step sideways and start talking about the petrol-head bloke who got drunk and hungry for steak and split the Irishman's lip?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Ahem: the matter of how important 'numbers' were in persuading the BBC to change direction referred to the one million-signature petition for them to reinstate Jeremy Clarkson, suspended, as Caliban has remarked, for being involved in a 'fracas'.
So the point being made is not about how many - or few - people, here or anywhere else, 'petition' Radio 3 to change direction but a consideration of the validity of rival 'arguments'; and, incidentally, the need for the BBC to explain fully and satisfactorily why it makes any decision which may be controversial. It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

should R3 change because of some 'pressure' from people who want change ? - implied answer presumably - NO, they should (continue to) do what they consider to be the right strategy/'thing-to-do'
sorry, missed your post
