No. The sound from the radio loudspeaker is "present". That's all. The rest is in your imagination.

Ena (Today, 10:28): "Listening to all the tweeted guff makes many people feel unwelcome."

Ena (Today, 10:36): "How can any sane person feel welcome or unwelcome?"

So, you seem to be saying that many people who listen to Essential Classics are not sane. Is that the observation of a rational listener?

But Teamsaint sent an e-mail which was received by Essential Classics. Ena, are you saying that s/he just imagined that?

(Re EC, I'm not "present", because it is a rubbish show, and I am "present " elsewhere).

I emailed afternoon on 3 ,(but the principle is the same) addressed to an offensive remark from Katie "stupid" derham.

            I wouldn't bother again.

Just to temper the spleen a bit, could I mention that during the last week Rob Cowan has been featuring items from the famous Heifetz / Piatigorsky series issued by RCA in the sixties. I have a few of these recordings on LP, so I looked them up, unaware that they can now be found complete in a 21 CD box from Amazon. All the items broadcast this week were complete, including a splendid performance of Beethoven's Piano Trio Op. 70 No. 2

If I hadn't listened to essential Classics I would not have spotted this. I absolutely agree with the criticisms of the endless trailers, tweets and hype, but all is not completely lost. Perhaps a little less invective ?

I have defended RC endlessly on this forum.

Invective? How do you respond when you find stuff offensive, ferretF?

I'm sorry, but I find the BBC attitude to their paying
Audience patronising at the very best, and if HG wants a sensible debate, retweeting a BBC management line on here is no way to get it.

Feel free to delete any posts with too much invective.
                Please.
                Nobody is listening anyway.

Actually, feel free to close my account, if my style is too confrontational.

(Incidentally, I am glad you found some good music on EC this week)

If they ignore an e-mail, how do they know they don't like it?

What an irritating post ... but what to expect from a pig but a grunt, I guess.

Ah, so you're definitely not Matthew Herbert.

so the whole audience is present at the programme in a way that wasn't possible in the past.

The whiff of the troll is stronger than usual today...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

"Trolls", "pigs", ... but no reasoned arguments.
