I expect B-o-D is right. I was just alerted by the mention on Facebook . I felt this was a definite step down from the 'text in your wine 'n' music pairings.

The almost incredible thing is that these ideas are just thought up in order to give listeners a chance to text in about something. Anything. One shudders to think ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Noone got hurt did they? It didn't waste too much of people's lives whilst thy were looking for Hermione's shoe, cleaning up the dog sick, getting the end of a biro out of Peregrine's ear & shouting at the parrot to stop saying 'Have a nice day, have a nice day'. There's room for a little bit of silliness in the moring isn't there?

That's where the disagreement comes. Actually, if it were really funny instead of trivial it would certainly be appreciated by a lot more people.

Do you enjoy this new style, by the way? In which case there's no harm in supporting it on the pure grounds that you really enjoy mornings these days. And no harm in others expressing the contrary view. (There's no "harm", I daresay, in the Chris Evans show, but we don't all want to listen to it. Not even all the R2 listeners want to listen to it - they whinge too!)

The world is full of places where little bit of silliness can have time to themselves 24/365. Breakfast is hurting very much the people who want be free from all that silliness. As I said before, it is like sitting in a quiet carriage and having to hear all the same noises from which you thought you had escaped. IT HURTS.

            Morning all,
It was the personality of sandwiches this morning. Fascinating!

however ever ill advised in the first place to start tweeting in daily tidbits etc ... a thousand times more so when the presenters are not up to it, lacking the wit, or charm, to make it appealing [Wogan was god in this respect] it needs Character [style, stance, and a substantive human universality] to make it work if it should be tried at all ...
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Senor da Jazbo - I think there is a lot of wisdom in what you say. It is not necessarily the tweeting per se that is the problem, it is the content. I must admit I still "listen to" (as a drivetime activity) Breakfast, but do sometimes find the tweeting rather silly. The personality of sandwiches, perhaps, takes the biscuit (so to speak).

You've hit the nail on the head, CDJ. Affability and connectivity is lacking in bucketfuls in both PT and SMJ's delivery. It's all about the timbre of the voice and the genuine desire to communicate to us out there. But, sadly, there are many listeners who seem to buy their style. If we must have all this stupid interactivity, let's have Wogan on Breakfast - love the man!

I loath Trelawny with his ridiculous over emphasis ("recorded LIIIIIIVE!") and barrage of garrulous and loquacious avidity, surely modelled on Sachs in "The Good Old Days"

I was somewhat surprised to see PT reviewing the newspapers on a TV news channel last night. This is normally done by journalists. Does PT possess the necessary qualifications? I think amcluesent's views would be confirmed by seeing him in vision as well as sound. I wonder if he if aiming to carve out a career beyond music (the normal area of his expertise - allegedly) and outside the BBC.

Perhaps someone is aware that he has a journalistic background of which I am unaware.

Presumably that was your bit of silliness for yesterday morning... sorry, moring?

If you can't see what's wrong, then I suspect no one is going to be able to get it through to you...

I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes
it takes to fill the Albert Hall
