they did also update the playlist with the, IMHO, lovely little Couperin piece that was slotted in at the end.

Well, Brahms idolised him (and with very good reason) ...

I'm more than partial to a gaffe, and still fondly remember Katie's edge-of-the-seat description (AO3, 7th June) of Arthur Somervell's Normandy Variations, especially the breathless (possibly near hysterical), chuckling excitement as she recounted the 1913 premiere given by that well-known pianist and copious programme-annotator Douglas Tovey.

Was there a Ladybird book of music history? Perhaps we could club together, get one on ebay and send it in to Broadcasting House.

Why on earth in 2011 do they need CDs in the studio?

You can use them to tell the fraction of the population you know what you had for breakfast or how you got your hangover; or you can use them to post links to interesting articles, organise a protest movement (just steer clear of 'jokes' about riots, though), publicise a concert, or comment on what's going on in your part of the world. Seconded. It's not Twitter's fault that Radio 3 is clogging up its broadcasts with banal tweets.

If we are finally rejecting financial despoliation then we should just as firmly reject the ruinous despoliation that goes by the name of entertainment and which we are blackmailed into accepting on pain of being stigmatised as prigs and killjoys. Except that there's no joy in it, reader. Stand for a moment at a counter of celebrity gossip magazines for kids. Top of the Pops: "Wow! Aston's Private Pics"; Heat: "Gary – the truth behind the rumours"; Closer: " 'Marry me or else' – Jordan demands a proposal within three weeks" – just stand for a moment and imagine the inside of the heads of those for whom a syllable of this could be of use, and then ask who's publishing it, conceiving it, writing it. Wow! Aston! Who, for the love of God – what adults, perhaps with children of their own would foul the communal nest this way, peddle these noxious nothings to generations of children they don't know? How do such people sleep at night? And why do we let them? Time to pitch more tents.

just ask those eg in charge of BBC Radio Music why they pushed junk food known to be injurious to health for years - then suggest they look at the intellectual equivalent they now dispense

                  I agree wholeheartedly.

Cowell and others of his kidney are a disgrace.

Agreed too. All this mass produced rubbish that Cowell and friends litter the musical world is nauseating in the extreme. Then we have the mass cult of the cheap worthless 'celebrity' the likes of the recent Kardashian marriage & divorce which both stand to gain millions from, the whole thing is just disgusting, no wonder society is in such a mess.

                      Greetings all,
Gosh I'm touched, this has never happend to me before, but 'twas but a trifle quip, however apt!

I think 3Beebies has only recently begun the practice of offering snippets of 'treats to come', with the presenter providing a tantalising voice over. Toast and tea all over the pouffe, I was spluttered with disbelief!

                      Whatever next?

No, please, don't tell me, I'm keen to guess.

I opted for a CD this morning instead, Tonus Ludalis, or however it's spelt.

I've just recorded yesterday's text-in moment about people's favourite smells.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Whilst recording this (no doubt absorbing) interaction with the Great British Public did you by any chance happen to catch a whiff of steaming ordure?

Spread the whole way through like the aforementioned ordure.

Are you asking because you want to avoid it or because you want to hear it?

It’s been about a month since I moved to TTN and now I can’t even bear the thought of hearing the presenter chatting, let alone listeners telling My True Storiy.
