Oh goody gum-drops: Aaron Copland's "Red Pony - Morning on the range" and Ravel's "Bolero" on Breakfast tomorrow...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I was wondering the other day whether the producers now of Breakfast are just very poorly educated, musically, and don't know other repertoire than these hackneyed pieces. Somehow it's a more comforting idea than the assumption that the musical choices are deliberate..... [sigh]
Actually the Copland Red Pony isn't broadcast that often, actually much less than it used to be. Mind you Copland's most impressive and thought provoking scores have all but vanished from R3 these days.

I regret they are well educated, their musical choices are deliberate, presenters are made to behave like tabloid journalists....and may I join you in a big S I G H.

I guess then that it's a
"pony and trap" as they are reputed to say in parts of the southern regions
Surprised to hear Danse Macabre playing as I switched on my car radio before setting off for work this morning
So listened to a CD of Stanfords horn quintet instead
So this morning when I switch the radio on its Bolero!
So I put the Stanford CD back on (string quartets)
Don't think I will bother with the radio tomorrow!

I haven't bothered for the last two or three weeks, and feel much better for it.
