    3beebies aka Breakfast

Sparafucile on the Starkey thread dubbed Breakfast thus. Maybe if we all used this new name for the programme the BBC spies who keep an eye cocked on this Forum might get the message.

I called it The Ant and Dec Breakfast Show in FF's Guardian Blog and Roger Wright's latest Radio 3 Blog. The more descriptions that are accurate the better I am sure.

3beebies is now the official title of the 'show' in these parts
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

One or two of the journalists seemed to think that Radio 2.5 was an 'Ouch' description. It seems they ain't heard nothing yet
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I still maintain that 'Dim Sum' neatly describes Radio 3's offerings between 0630 and 1200 hours.

Ofca I have to disagree, because I adore dim sum and can't get enough of it once I start

Who is going to write a little song to introduce the programme under that name?

We are the Beebies 3, unhappy girls and boys,
We miss our BBC, Breakfast now annoys.

I'm sure you can all do better.

What a condescending load of crap this early morning programme is. Even its predecessor wasn't all that much better. I remember and yearn for the days back in the '80s when we had 'proper' music in the entirety and not snatches or miniature pieces a la Cfm.

Real 3beebies this morning. Roger Quliter's Children's Overture was not only played but done as a local-radio-style dedication.

ahem ...if one is going to listen to this cutesy enema in the morning why not listen to the real master at work ... loadsa Soul and C&W classics, a real sense of humour, and a puncturing wit .... quite blissful really ... oh yeah music ... on me iTunes innit
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

My reference to 'Dim Sum' was meant to be taken more as a play on words, implying that R3's morning output doesn't make much sense when you add it all up...

Just to show I am a fair-minded sort of chap, I'd just mention that I heard a whiff of Byrd consort music on Essential Classics (Classics Lite?) and, a little later on, the Sanctus and Benedictus from Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli. I wonder if that had anything to do with Starkey's input to the programme? Missed the great mind himself, unfortunately.
