Sewell's apologia for Trelawny is utterly misplaced. The man's a vulgarian to his core. Nothing is 'making' him start shouting and bawling while the last chord still hangs in the air of the concert hall except love of his own voice and an entirely incorrect opinion we are interested in his banalities. Every performance is the best yet, in fact the best it could ever be be! Really?

Yes, it amuses me that we always get "amazing" programmes with "wonderful" performances from "fantastic" artists who "showcase" the music: nothing is run of the mill under Roger Wright!

And the real master of high octane, grovellingly sycophantic hype and mega-inflation is Rafferty.
How his production staff do not howl with laughter as he tangles himself in ever multiplying and ever intensifying superlatives beats me.

I do agree that some presenters can be extremely annoying but aren’t these adjectives and adverbs a little OTT?
