There seem to be plenty of online tutorials dedicated to mandolin strumming and strum patterns. Apparently strumming produces a chopped chord rhythm. This suggests that mandolin strumming is being practised, even if it meets with disapproval in some quarters, and makes the proposal to banish poor Hannah appear even harsher.

I'm sure it is possible to 'strum' a mandolin. My point was that the Bach Partita which was played was about as far away from 'strumming' as you could possibly get! I also have no personal dislike for Georgia Mann. I just wish R3 presenters didn't have to try so hard to be chummy. Chummy strummy in this case. Nothing wrong with a little subtle humour, but subtlety seems in short supply these days.
