GM has slowly been "turned" into revisiting the BBC playlist of those pieces regularly churned out. This morning we got the double piano version of "La Valse" - a piece that in days when one of our number would list the "most played" items would always be up at the top - exactly the same live recording that she played a week ago.

The "follow-on" to the 9.15 a.m. music has become more of a joke and despite the odd well-thought item (by a listener) you can always bet that something bl**din' obvious will be in the mix. And it is.

I had hopes for GM which sadly, are not being fulfilled.

I wonder how Radio 3 monitors the popularity of it's programmes or presenters, or if-indeed it does! I get the feeling GM isn't that popular with listeners. I know sometimes it takes time to get used to a new presenter but unfortunately even after all this time I've never warmed to her style.

        Ditto here.

My feeling is that R3 takes a bit more notice of the Forum than one might think.

Well I would hope I'm not the only person who emails comments on R3 offerings, be that content or presenter. Mind you the lack of response (not even an autoreply on several occasions in recent months) might lead one to think that they don't even read let alone take any notice...
What concerns me about Georgia is that she seems to be succumbing to the identikit female morning presenter style "perfected" by Katie and Suzy. Does the Beeb put something in the water, engage in subliminal messaging through her headset, exert the "this is the sort of thing we expect" - or has she chosen to go that way?
I do hope that Hannah French doesn't catch it.

They judge the 'popularity' by how many people listen (which they pay RAJAR £millions to find out). The guidance given to the indie production companies is that the metric of success is to 'increase reach'. And because the BBC believes popularity is largely based on the appeal of the presenter rather than the content, it's easy enough to replace a presenter but keep the programme formula exactly the same - so the presenters 'merge' into the programme format.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I am in despair re presenters on R3 - have to say especially the women; most of them are always in gushing mode now, even those who used to sound calm and serious like SMP. I'm sure they've been told to do this. Be feminine and soft! I don't want to be told how a piece of music makes them feel all warm and fuzzy.
