But will they care about a mere 166 households putting the boot in? I’m sure the bean-counters will relegate the feedback to a negligible footnote, if that...
But if a man who regularly breaks cake with the Rat Controller were to make it 167 it could be a game changer .....

I might try the direct approach. I’d feel a bit of a fraud though - haven’t heard him on EC for years, they lost me way back with their gimmicky format...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It's this awful idea of thinking up ways to be lively and entertaining, with variety of interest, moving from one familiar segment to the next. It suits the kind of audience they want to attract - one as interested in the format, presenter and style as the musical content which simply acts as the link between the presenters and their waffle. "That's Entertainment." Pooh!
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

<< The only alternative I can see other than subscription based non-broadcast services is direct arms-length tax support but (a) the number of channels will need to be reduced (b) the politics of say a low cost regional Gaelic channel or Welsh channel for kids may be acceptable but for R1? ? and (c) does anyone really think a Tory government that has taken us out of a social democrat Europe with an eye on a low tax, American style system would even consider public investment (eg it even stopped much of the low cost World service whose soft sell of British Culture was infinitely better than hundreds of embassies). >>

The pain, oh, the pain of so many truths.

Which is why I suspect so many of us are dropping in on ONLINE statoins in languages we cannot understand / do NOT need to understand because, weirdly, we consider the MUSIC in itself to be the raison d'etre and sine qua non of any classical music station.

Stuff the ingratiating attempt to wheedle the listeners into staying with them.

Shame - Skellers is the most entertaining presenter by far. Getting the same treatment given to Simon Mayo on R2.

Thanks for posting this, I too was disheartened by monday's announcement. It's amazing how chipper he managed to sound in spite of it all, the sign of a true professional.
