Georgia Mann with Ian moving to Afternoon on 3 . So where does that leave the excellent Tom McKinney?

Yep, that was my info. But you've spilled the beans. Well, he could go to Breakfast, though I hear PT will be doing it alone for the present.

Sorry, anton, apparently they're targeting younger women.

The beans were split by Classic music.com 2 hours ago - presumably through a BBC press release .

Breakfast presenter Georgia Mann is to take over from Ian Skelly on Essential Classics, who will move to present Radio 3's Afternoon Concert

Been out for a walk so missed it . Looks like Ian pre emoted things a bit *
So Petroc flies solo ... interesting

            * I meant pre-empted but it spell checked to something more relevant given Ian’s tone this morning!

Ah, yes, I'd just found it by googling "Georgia Mann" and News.

So what's actually happening to Afternoon on 3 - is someone being kicked off? Does Penny Gore still do it? And Fiona Talkington ? And Tom McKinney? That would hardly makes full-time employment for four.

PS Just seen the press release, thanks, Helders. So all four will be doing Ao3. 52/4 = 13 weeks each.

If they are in the press release it does mean a team of four. There are lots of other gigs for them . If Petroc is permanent on Breakfast that will free up some of his other work . He is very hardworking and plugs a lot of gaps . I wonder if the audience research has thrown up just how popular he is...

And what's really hypocritical about that press release is how they manage to avoid saying Ian's being kicked off and Georgia's taking his place. It's as if there are two entirely unrelated pieces of information: they're both getting enticing new jobs. They don't even mention that Ian was doing EC.

                    S****b***s.

What has that got to do with it ?

( sorry to say this, but I think that Georgia Mann is really , well, not too bad.....which isn’t really good enough, is it ? )

The kind of things we like about his programmes will (definitely)not be required in a purely concert presenting role; it's not just about "voices" - although I know that certain ones can require the use of the off switch even if the subject matter might otherwise be of interest. I'm not a great fan of Georgia Mann or her choices, which up to now hasn't mattered that much as the Breakfast slot is not one that tends to get my full attention, so I don't know how the 3 hour chunk of EC when I do listen more consistently will work out. That's my problem though, and of no import in the scheme of things Beeb.

In football, that used to be called “ foul and abusive language”.

Sadly , the football “ Laws “ have kept up with the times. Which is a pity, because I would really have liked to see a woman player sent off for ungentlemanly conduct.
It is “ Unsporting behaviour now”, a poor substitute .

I think GM will be really good on EC, but likewise see no reason for IS to move. Can’t SK be moved instead? ;) It’s like having a footie team isn’t it? What jolly japes ;)

OED merely says it's 'colloquial', unlike a slightly shorter word which is 'coarse slang'. You may have miscounted the asterisks.

Anyway, to jointly share a prime 3-hour morning slot with one other presenter isn't really matched by a lower-profile 3-hour afternoon slot shared with three others.

That would be my thoughts too Muzzer - Georgia a good choice and she does not mumble or gabble!
And pleased to hear it is to be Georgia not Jorjia!
