New season on Radio 3 to include two new classical music programmes

well on clicking on 2005 it then lets you click further back to December 1998 with Leonard Slatkin programmes "no longer available"

I think the earliest one I've found that you can actually listen to is September 27 2003 Mozart Piano Concerto no. 20 in D Minor - a "clip" lasting 24 minutes

The later ones do seem to be intact (with one notable exception ...!).

Last year DM continued as usual throughout August. This year there's been disruption by Proms Plus - and you look round...

If the BBC MM is still showing the Sunday Concert and Drama on 3 continuing after the Proms, I'm afraid I can't see where DM could be. But are people quite sure it hasn't been moved? To midnight (it could be if it's reduced to 60 minutes and Paul's correct in saying LJ will finish at midnight instead of 1am)?

So far, it is limited information. But the BBC Music listings show one ( final ? ) edition of Discovering Music on Sept 11th the day after the Last night. That is at the usual 1700 time. Then the following day the new schedule kicks in and on Sunday 18th and Sunday 25th it doesn't appear. At midnight those days is Jazz Line -Up, preceded by Words and Music, Sunday Feature, Drama on 3 and World Routes.

Oh, well, I've sent an email direct to the programme:

"Can you reassure listeners that Discovering Music will be returning to a regular slot when the Proms are over, and what day/time will that be, please?"

Not at all. I've had an auto reply acknowledgement. My question has been forwarded to the production team but the answer I require may be on the Discovering Music website (mmmmmmm - that's where I went first to get the email address).

And if I would like a request played on Radio 3 I should contact the Radio 3 Requests team. Radio 3 Requests is broadcast every Sunday at 2pm ...

This will be from the BBC Radio 3 Information Services, will it?

As we move to the change day of 12 September are our glasses half full or half empty. My pessimistic side says Breakfast will become less potable. Who on earth dreamt up the format and its slide downwards? Those who remeber Petroc in the morning may already be reaching for the off button.
As for the CC successor I fear less. It has the potential to be very good especially if Rob's influence over content matches what he did on CD Masters. I have enjoyed CC for the last few weeks particularly the Dudamel, Mahler Youth Orchestra and Yo Yo discs and loved the Berberian/Berio - the folksongs were a bit of a mishmsh but 50 years on came over fresh as a daisy.

Petroc moves to a (slightly) earlier but shortened Breakfast with SMP (and Suzy Klein is 'promoted' (?) to In Tune).

Two points here - I like Petroc on the 5 o'clock show. He needs a face-to-face interview to bring out the best of his style. However, he was tried on Breakfast some years back and I'm afraid to say it was painful listening - on his own his tone is hectoring.

Suzy Klein to In Tune - What has happened to the Great Irish Gob? I sincerely hope he's retired.
