'Handel Goes Wild' eh!
I can understand why someone would make an arrangement but it doesn't work for me. Not to my taste. I'd say it's an arrangement to avoid.Comment

Christina Pluhar has indeed done some lovely things and also some pretty dodgy ones - but anyway Handel himself lifted the main idea for this piece from Telemann's Tafelmusik, together with about 40 others. I don't like the Handel however it's played but I usually enjoy L'Arpeggiata's take on most things. I think 'Zefiro Torna' is wonderful!

I have all of Pluhar's earlier recordings and think they are wonderful. I felt that the rot set in with that awful Purcell disc and this Handel one is seemingly of the same ilk.Comment

I first discovered Pluhar et al through their first discs for Alpha...largely 'folksy' rustic repertoire in which I think they are at their best. The recordings have now happily been collected together in a box.
