Skelly replaces Cowan

I know that in the long run we are all dead, but will this make any serious difference in the long run, given the forces at work at the top, of R3 and the BBC?

I've only just seen this thread and I think that Rob will have gained more, And I don't mean financially, from this than Ian Skelly. Don't forget that towards the end of the pre Suzy days, Rob and Sarah were playing quite a few longer more earnest works. Ian may just be replacing Rob in the new puppet role. Rob will be given more of a free rein as a knowledgeable asset to CFM and we will hear, should we care to listen, more interesting things on CFM. Do we,as yet know which time slots he is taking on - he could well advise on which recordings are used for their evening 'full works' programmes.

A couple of weeks ago Donald Macleod announced on his Twitter feed that he had a particularly bad week which included the cryptic phrase “trouble at Radio 3”.

I wonder if RC’s departure was part of it.

Yes, we will be able to judge what the changes betoken. My completely uninformed guess is that Rob was already semi-detached, possibly by his own choice. When they advertised for tenders for the new Sunday Morning slot in 2016 (I think when the Jolly Swain took over) they said Rob would be 'leaving the programme'. He's knocking 70, so maybe he wants a quieter life?
