    Baffled by R4 scheduling

This is on the online page for R4's Christmas Eve daytime schedule:

    MORNING

    06:00
    OFF AIR
    Programmes will resume at 10:00

    10:00

    The Archers Omnibus
    24/12/2017
Toby's life is changed forever, and there's a day to remember for Lilian.
    11:15
    OFF AIR
    Programmes will resume at 19:00

What on earth is going on?

Is the Christmas/New Year Radio Times out yet?
That might shed light on both this and the King's carol service (usually listed in full).

Perhaps the Second Coming is due for announcement and someone in the Beeb Religious Affairs Dept has got wind of this. We need miracles at this time.

My guess is that 'Off Air' means the same as it does on R3's schedule when the programming hasn't been settled.R4 also 'off air' on Christmas Eve.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It's usually out long before the editions for the preceding couple of weeks - but not this year, I think.

It was the 'Off Air' insertion that puzzled. Sounds pretty definite.
You mean they really don't know a mere 18 days beforehand what programmes are to be scheduled? Hmm.

No, I don't mean that. I mean that the Radio 3 schedules have frequently replaced the programme details by 'Off Air' when they aren't ready to announce them. Given that we usually only get a week ahead, rolled out one day at a time, they're already further ahead of themselves than is Radio 3 normally. And atm R3 is 'Off Air' at 7am on Christmas Eve. What's 'baffling' is why they use that phrase at all.
