Are we just supposed to go with the flow for six hours and find out later what we were subjected to?
I suggest that a possible approach would be to switch off Radio 3 for the six hours, then look at the playlist and see whether there is anything worth listening to via iplayer. In the meantime, on a Sunday morning, a careful choice of a place of worship should enable you to experience some sacred music live and in its proper context.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sadly, the minster is only doing one (long) service Sunday morning, but, as you say, there are other places.
Singing in a concert myself Saturday night, with social afterwards, so it might be a morning recovering in bed anyway!
Sung Eucharist and Confirmation
Missa Rigensis Praulinš
Ave verum corpus Byrd
Sermon by the Archbishop of York
PS: The Praulinš is an interesting setting, well worth a listen.
We sang it (complete) at our last concert.
The minster choir will undoubtedly not sing the Credo, and may well not sing all other 'movements' either; we are usually served either the Kyrie or the Gloria.
