I don't think this BBC Radio Scotland programme has been mentioned here. O.K it's a bit Essential Classics in its selections, but you do get to hear items from the forthcoming Linn release of Corrine Morris playing Cello works by Haydn Couperin and Monn with the SCO. Note that it's in HD Sound on the iPlayer.

A good point, at which I will leap in with a(n irrelevant) propagandistical response
It reminds me that there are BBC regional and local stations broadcasting 'Essential Classics'-type programmes. If Radio 2 isn't prepared to return to its '100 Best Tunes'/'Melodies for You', there's no reason why Radio 3 should have to be the sole national BBC station expected to broadcast hours and acres of Essential Classics 'easy listening+'.
There's a programme from Northern Ireland, too, I think - or used to be.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

On Sundays at 3 we are 'eased into the afternoon with a mix of popular classical music, news, reviews and interviews.'
That's what I call classical BBC-ese.
I'm not available at that time on a Sunday.

Many thanks, Bryn. I'll keep an eye and ear open this Sunday.
