The worst and most fact-challenged gossip in classical music does have an axe to wield/grind, which he did when he ridiculed on his blog the appointment of Alan Davey as R3 Controller. (Much in the same way that he ridicules music director / chief conductor appointments like Jaap van Zweden to the NY Phil.)
