River of Music: 12 hrs Non-stop Music: Sunday 30 October

Didn't get this before. There is a playlist now - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b080xq5d and similarly for the other part. The iPlayer Radio thing doesn't appear to mention/link to this- not on my iPad, anyway.
But that playlist is largely pointless without CD numbers. The BBC's insistence for 'one size fits all' by shoving the Radio 3 schedule into the same web layout formatting machine as that for, say, Radio 2 is meaningless in the context of classical music. The Spotify link for each piece is risible and just displays the BBC's arrogance and contempt for its listeners and a breathtaking lack of any comprehension of why people listen to classical music...."Well it's the same notes being played, innit? So what if it's by a different orchestra and conductor.?"
I did enjoy the River and thought that the clever way that they segued from one piece to another sometimes almost seamlessly was rather good. These ears completely failed to notice the transition between the War Requiem and the Verdi ( well, in my defence I was cooking a very complicated meal and had imbibed several large G&T's to aid my concentration )
Well, no - although the general tenor of academiologicality that appears to pervade much of what you do see is perhaps best epitomised by "A Peircean Model for Music and Sound-Based Art: a Pragmatist Approach to Experiences in the Artistic Use of Sound", which is probably not the kind of thing that most people who might innocently or otherwise drop in on a Bach cantata would expect to engage with beyond perplexed recognition of its apparent abstruseness and proto-scholarly exclusivity; it's that academicolon that gives it away...

Didn't have you down as a fan though
Indeed - and rightly so, knowing as I believe I do the difference between a true axe and a false one and reJoyce-ing in the original (which Kevin Bowyer once said he harboured an ambition to memorise).

A pedant respectfully wishes to point out that the original should be "riverrun" - "Riverrun" is the Game of Thrones version.

ah but as per one abstract "Any analytical procedure must balance the gravitational pull of genre with a networked, relativistic world of characteristics which reconfigure depending on initial questions."
There is an engineering term for such statements - rather agricultural in its analogy.

Of course; how careless of me and how unpedantic (apedantic?) of you! I shall correct it forthwith! I have also to confess to ignorance of "the Game of Thrones version" that you mention; is that one of those computer games that requires a Joyce tick?...
french frank suggested a poll up-thread. I think it will be interesting to find out how many listeners followed the information about each piece being played beyond the composer and the name of the work, and if they thought the information was well presented.
Looking at the web page, I get an impression that this is more like ‘Come and join Rob and Sara, tell us your stories, and hear the music along the way’. I’d have thought a list of facts would have been far more effective (I think this has been suggested on the thread), if what was stated was the prime purpose of this experiment.
I admit to being surprised at how negative the attitude is on this forum. People chip in with something positive about something and the response is often no more than a snipe. How about having a ''positive day’’ where for 24 hours you’re only allowed to say positive generous things?
