As soon as I heard the opening of "Anything You Can do" from "Annie Get Your Gun" this morning, I knew that weedy, wiry voice to be that of Kim Criswell.
She is NOT a good singer and screams her words out. Not a patch on Betty Hutton!!

I'm not an expert in the types of music she sings. I heard her live once - seemed OK. As I recall she's OK in Anything Goes - but then the style of singing (you wouldn't perhaps call it that) is different from opera or lieder, and performers often use a microphone - indeed nearly always, which changes things.
