Ok - who mentioned "Pictures at an Exhibition"? Here it comes once more, stomping over the airwaves.

Preceded by another old R3 friend, the Ravel Piano Concerto. I used to love the slow movement of this concerto - now I switch off.

o yippee - a few minutes spare after Pictures at an Exhibition. What shall we choose to fill the gap. O, I know - Fauré's Pavane...

It could have been Ravel's "Pavane" - small mercies eh?

Taken a sneaky peek at Classical Collection tomorrow anyone?
        Dvorak: Slavonic Dance
Vivaldi: Summer from Four Seasons (played Monday morning last by S M-P)
        Tchaikovsky: Polonaise from Eugene Onegin.

How do these presenters get out of bed in the morning just to sit in front of a mike and churn out the same old stuff? Its tedious to have it regurgitated time after time - heaven knows what it must be like actually to have to present it.

Now listening to Nielsen's 6th symphony on a £5.99 download of all his symphonies. When was the 6th last heard on R3?

Note for suffolkcoastal: the Faure Pavane is not on today's Ao3 playlist - just in case you missed it for your records.

          .
money - remarkable what people will do for it

Looks like my predictions of a merger between R2 (old style easy listening) and R3 is happening a little faster than I thought - I guess next weeks CoW will be Mantovani presents ...

I normally check Ao3 via Iplayer so would have picked it that horrid Pavane (I can't stand the piece, nor can I stand the Cantique de Jean Racine which is also regularly churned out). Nielsen's 6th was only broadcast a couple of week ago, Nielsen is haviing a slightly better year so far after last year's dismal showing.

Perhaps they think Radio 3 listeners can't find Radio 2, or vice versa. It does seem completely pointless and a waste of airtime to broadcast the same thing on both stations. Can you imagine BBC1 and 2 showing exactly the same programme at the same time?

its just part of the rebranding of R3 as radio 2.1

Then after obliterating Breakfast the bomb can hopefully continue to bounce and obilterate 'Extended Breakfast' at 10 and In-Tune and then destroy the planning studio for the so called 'Essential Classics'.

On switching on my bathroom radio I was 'met' by Faure's Pavane again. A short bit of Kodaly's 'Hary Janos'. Why not play it all, not that long.?

Yes, a bit like R2, but more like Capital Gold in terms of short playlist rotation.
