Do you mean you wouldn't enjoy chamber music to close the day's listening. Or do you simply mean: "I like Night Tracks" and wouldn't welcome any alternative? My 'Who would object?' question was designed to lure out objectors to explain why they wouldn't want chamber music? You wouldn't be deprived of Night Tracks as it would be on the Unwind stream.

Is this an interesting new innovation where there are two strands to R3 output catering for different audiences? I would certainly welcome some late-night chamber music as an alternative to Night Tracks. Maybe there could be a stream of complete works in the mornings, parallel to EC.

At the point where a majority of the Radio 3 audience would prefer SM-P, five nights a week, presenting a 'glorious ragbag' of mostly non-classical music (which I doubt very much I would agree with the programme makers was 'adventurous' even if unfamiliar: just listening I'd say there was a strong streak of ambient New Age) rather than eg 250 years of string quartets from Haydn to Webern to Julian Anderson - at that point Radio 3 as a serious arts broadcaster could finally be declared dead. "Long live Radio 3 Lite or R3 Chill or Radio 3 East Listening or Radio 3 Sleepy Time". How can people truly appreciate, musically, a combination of shortish pieces which form no kind of coherent sequence? Once it becomes functional ('It helps me to get off to sleep') it vitiates Ars gratia artis.

The trail for that Unwind service is so tooth gratingly bad it’s affecting my mental health. That awful goo-goo voice ,,.,
Seriously though it’s all part of the infantilisation of our culture . Apart from anything all mindfulness stuff I’ve done (which I thoroughly recommend) advises you not to do any of it with music in the background. You are much better off learning an instrument than letting poor quality music wash over you.

I don't like the idea of Licence-payers' money being spent on stuff that isn't broadcast on FM or DAB. Whatever weasel words they use to justify it, It's still dishonest in my book.

I believe 'Unwind' will be available on DAB+.

The reference to supporting the Proms was worrying at the time and, now that this year's offering is past, possibly more so.
Was this why we lost TTN time to Dumbtime, given that there was some mumble about having to air that content on a station before it could be offered elsewhere? When R3X is up and running will that mean no further airtime poaching is necessary?
I think I managed to miss a trailer for it this morning - just as well as the online blurb talking about "unwind your mind" I find rather disturbing. The last thing my mind needs is more encouragement to unravel...

so poor little diddums had a difficult day at work so the BBC has to be some sort of counsellor delivering audio consolation.

How about a Breakfast time service BBC WINDUP aimed at getting you prepared for that delayed train, then being packed in like a sardine , no one saying good morning when you arrive at work (mainly because they are all WFH’ing) turning on the work PC to find it takes 15 mins to boot up . So you do you work emails on your iPhone the first of which is a demand for a 14 page summary of what you’ve achieved this year which has to be done landscape in 14 point with bull points on every page. You do half of it and then the PC crashes ..So you dash off an email to IT and from then the day just spirals down a plughole…

Also, by my estimation, the last 'serious' new programme aimed at knowledgeable classical music listeners was possibly CD Masters. Everything new since has been easy listening or directed at people who know little about classical music, and don't necessarily want to know much. Or 'unclassified' music anyway
