for similar reasons I've stopped shopping at Waitrose because I distinctly heard one of their assistants dropping her aitches. It stands to reason that their food must be sub-standard too.

I didn't mean to make any more than a throwaway remark acknowledging the kernel's comment, but this as this is proving one of the most interesting things I've said for some time …
I do think professional broadcasters should speak clearly - and not gabble - since since there must be many like me who use ear trumpets and don't always catch what people are saying. There isn't much point in shouting, 'Eh? What did you say?' at the wireless.

Only since JLP took it over - in 1937. Waitrose Ltd was founded by messrs Waite and Rose in 1908. So I undestand.
