    Yep.

There are times … It's got to the stage where one would hardly have been surprised if it had been Alan Davey, but celebrity, as you say, is all …
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Good luck to KD. It may well be her niche.

You don't really want rid of her, do you, EA?

She would make a reasonable newsreader, so R3 might be forced to let her go if BBC television thought her high profile would be useful to them.

She used to be one - on ITV for twelve years - before she decided she wanted to do other things.

so R3 might be forced to let her go if BBC television thought her high profile would be useful to them.
Her experience as a Synchronised Swimmer might be of use to her learning her dance moves, and she's used to the "get voted off week-by-week" format - but Strictly is a much bigger "pull", so, yes - this may well be the beginning of the end of her R3 career.

Reading the comments in the online Daily Mail it seems quite a few cannot wait to see Katie "in her super skimpy sexy Salsa outfit"
Quite a few others say they haven't heard of her, still I suppose it raises the profile of Radio 3 .... ?

She's already done that Conductor's reality TV programme Maestro that was won by Sue Perkins. I remember Katie had a little teary episode when things weren't going her way, I think she fell out with her tutor? She's obviously a glutton for reality TV.

"‘I spend hours admiring professional musicians and performers at the Proms and at BBC Radio 3, so I’m thrilled to have the chance to throw myself into an equally demanding and beautiful world,’ she said."

Proms presenter who says she 'only dances well after a few glasses of wine'

"Love Katie Derham. Really classy. Wish she'd go back to reading the news too."
"She could certainly get strict with me:)"
"Cheeky little minx her. You can just tell fwhuuuuuuurrrrrrrrr..."
"Cant wait to see the lovely Katie in a few skimpy outfits"
"One of the most overrated and over exposed airhead presenters even the BBC have come up with - and there's a lot of competition. She has ruined the Proms for me since they decided that she had to 'present' the programmes. I have opted for Iplayer and wind her bits forward so as not to endure the inane gibble gabble and silly smile." (Ah, well, you can't win 'em all … - Ed)

Lets hope she doesn't fall victime to the Curse of Strictly. Here's the Huff Post as well. A case of nothing propinks like propinqity, I suppose. (I always assumed that was Ogden Nash, but it seems to have been Ian Fleming).

If the current Minister for Culture has his way Strictly will be off the slimmed down BBC fairly soon anyway, so it may have done R3 listeners a service! - that is if there is a R3 on the BBC in the future, course.
