Interestingly, this is the very opposite of a technique used by a vicar whom family knew, famous for delivering boring sermons. Periodically he would stop suddenly in mid-flow; the effect of this on the congregation was remarkable - anyone who had fallen asleep would instantly wake up!

Punctuation has returned. Much better this morning, and I have the impression that the presenter is genuinely trying to communicate, showing respect for the listener.

I haven' noticed a massive difference but it does prove once and for all that the Great and the Good of R3 read these outpourings.......

Except he played The Lark Ascending again!

Doesn't worry me - I quite like it (still).

The text reading machine was off though, disaster!!

I spoke too soon. Garbled gapless streams of words have returned, as have tweets, trailers and war-horses.

An interesting (to me!) parallel on a visual level. The new editor of a newspaper where I was a sub decreed a new design: all headlines to be written 'full out' (to take up the entire space possible given the point size) and stories to be shorter so that as many different stories could be included on the page (so that people could skim them all easily and quickly read the ones that interested them). Also, all paragraphs had to consist of sentences seldom exceeding 13 words.

This was regarded as 'tabloid style' - for mass consumption.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Just watched the bigging up of Strictly with the announcement of one of this year's contestants. Has Radio 3 ever had a representative? Maybe there should be one to up the profile of R3. Petroc? Suzy? Clemmy? KD? Rob?

Is this why J Vine has been on EC?? (haven't been listening).

I have a vague memory that someone in the past had been on SCD and was asked about it on Essential Classics(?). Someone with an Italian name? The seamless blending of the BBC brands.

I am trying to think of something less interesting than radio presenters interviewing radio presenters.
Very long delays at small airports springs to mind.
This isn't going to help lift my long time boycott of vine.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

Delays (especially long ones) at any airports, I would have thought - a staycation is perhaps the answer. Then you can get stuck for hours on the M5, A303... (take your pick).
