It amused me that in the early part of the programme CB-H apologised repeatedly for the 'technical hitch' with the microphones, quite appropriately, which left her sounding like she was 'broadcasting from a cupboard'. But the subtext to the apologies was that we were being deprived of everything except the music - as though that were the minor component of the show!

It reminded me of the Booker Prize show on BBC news the other evening when they didn't have a feed from the podium. Being the one real OB thing they had to sort out. The presenter and pundits did brilliantly in the circs I thought. CB-H this morning must have been livid, I would have been. How can you make someone sound off-mike? Other than by them being by the wrong mike and the right mike not being switched on? It's not rocket science is it.

The iPlayer notice has just changed to 'No available version'. A pity, as I had one point I wanted to recheck (and it isn't included in the playlist).
They started playing what I thought was the little band in Don Giovanni playing Non piĆ¹ andrai. But apart from saying that it was 'Mozart quoting Mozart' at the beginning, the back announcement was on the lines that if you wrote as much music as Mozart you could be forgiven for 'reusing' some of your material. I wondered if it was me who misidentified it. If not, I wouldn't have called this an example of 'reusing' his material. I heard no explanation. It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal.
