I do think it's *preferable* to follow R64's lead and concentrate on the presenter qualities we enjoy. Silence tells its own story.

Once I would have agreed but since the presenters have now made themselves into a cult and the focus of the programmes they're fair game for criticism in my book. Anyway, R64 is patently trying to stir it up a bit.

If anyone is any doubt as to how it should be done, have a listen to Martin Handley introducing (NB not presenting) the Gergiev/LSO concert the other night; that should be taped and used as a demo for the Breakfast crew.

I like IS but he needs to bone up on his London Transport history. He introduced a piece of light music yesterday which apparently portrayed the "red bus" (was it a Coates piece?)

The Routemaster bus which made its first appearance at a Commercial Motor Show in September 1954 and was intended to replace the trolleybus and the RT model and NOT the "open-topped" bus which IS thought was still travelling the London roads in the 50's. It wasn't. By the 30's all open-topped buses had been replaced by covered models.
Still it gives me a chance to put a link to a rather fascinating little colour film showing London in 1927 (with open-topped buses!)
