Have they ever given John Shea a crack at Breakfast? He'd be brilliant at that time of the morning - very witty asides on composers.

(Mind you, after presenting TTN it would be a long stretch in the studio .)

Or even a regular daytime presence on any programme (he might not fancy early mornings in Salford).
Don't blame the presenter for having to plug the BBC's Eurovision Song contest - though Radio 3 listeners could tune in tonight to La Cenerentola, followed by Hear and Now, instead.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The smooth seductiveness of certain presenters is another example of copying CFM (where would RW have been without CFM to copy?). I can't forget one of the presenters of CFM's 'Smooth Classics', who pronounced it regularly in the most seductive tones as 'sssssmmoooooovvff classssseeekssss', like some chocolate advert om TV.

Well if they want northern presenters, there are plenty of us on the forum.

Spot on muzzer. And I'm glad you appreciated my early outing in my balaclava with the industrial wire cutters...

I doubt if my Geordie accent would, it would seem, be appreciated?

Where does the "norf" start today?

Except that TTN is recorded during the day.

Watford, if you live in London. But for you, maybe Darlington.

                      For me, it's Hull.

Not sure what 'somehow authoritative' means. And I know these bios have to sound laid back and slightly self-deprecating (and mention which football club you support), but the idea of greatly preferring to talk in between records and meet famous people, rather than become a maths teacher ... (other choices are available) :-/

You and I know it but it never ceases to amaze me how many people are still under the impression that messrs Swain and co are imprisoned in the bowels of Broadcasting House during the wee small hours. Maybe it's Jonathan's five o'clock shadow and soporific tones which does it...

Which reminds me (because Donald Macleod used to be The TTN Voice), was that DM's voice that took over this morning when the link to Salford went down? If so, what was he doing in the office on a Sat'dy? Or was it someone else ... ?
