Is that like an occasional table? Produced from the garage to fill the gaps whilst entertaining?
Sounds more like the weather forecast - 'There will be bouts of heavy Pavarotti, with Rachmaninov downpours, interspersed with occasional outbreaks of Handel'

bbm - caught Nimrod this morning played by GCB - I always think it comes over very well in a brass arrangement - has the complete Enigma Vars ever been arranged (and recorded) for brass.

Thanks for that - I see the Fairey Band has also done it but the BD couplings inc Sea Pictures looks fascinating - I'm tempted even at the high asking price.

First the Black Dyke Band, and now the Fairey Band! Whatever would Elgar have thought???

Well, given that what was played was the overture to his Occasional Oratorio, I don't really see the problem here.

I wonder what form a "Classical Dyke" takes?!

Yes, thank you MickyD!! This band has been inb exitence since 1855. One of the oldest and moist sucessful brass bands in the country. I tweeted Petroc this mnorning, and it came up about having 'Grand March from Tannhauser', as played by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band.

Personally, i am glad thyat PT likes brass bands and band music in general. We await and see what happens.

I* think Radio3 should do more for bands, ie Brass or wind bands to.

Do the top conductors of today ever conduct live brassband concerts or contests Bbm. Ithink Malcolm Sargent usedto, many years ago, but it seems to have gone out of fashion.

The CD mentioned is part conducted by Colin Davis.

But surely everyone's plea is we don't follow Fashion, Facebook, Fwitter or whatever?
