Obviously we would need to ask the Cork Symphony Orchestra to leave first...
Something from the Quartetto Bolognese might be nice afterwards"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Meanwhile, eschewing the parlour games , I see on Radio 3' s Facebook:
"Sorry, BBC3. Am I the only person who thinks there is now far too much chat on 3breakfast? I've been a regular listener for over 15 yrs. I can remember great debates about hourly news broadcasts. We now effectively have quarter hourly interspersed with loads of invitations to tweet, your call etc etc. I've pretty much decided to give up on it. My early morning listening will be the wonderful 'Through the Night' on iplayer."
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Amazing how fate bites you in the btm...........Val came to lunch today, I'm her son's Godfather (he's slightly Asperger's and had leukemia at 14 but found a bone-marrow match, got to Oxford and is doing bio-chemical research). His Dad was a great sparring partner, went to the Grosvenor Square do and had Tony Benn's Diaries on his bookshelves but didn't refuse an OBE for work on night vision binocs which helped the troops in the Falklands. Anyhow, guess what! Val is requesting a piece of Palestrina on Breakfast sometime in the near future as it was one of Bill's favourite pieces. Bill died as a result of a botched operation in a private hospital when my godson was very young. So I had to bite the bullet and tell her how I felt about interplay between listeners and presenters. She revealed that she hated, absolutely hated In Tune so we had a hug...... and if I've revealed that my politics are somewhat to the right of Ghenghis Khan, tant pis.

That's such a difficult one Clive, music can transport you back into happier times and your friend obviously would like to share her grief with others and make it public and want to share (as opposed to just putting the cd on) That is understandable and perhaps we have been rather harsh on this thread when it's music that is so poignant to others.
However, I've been looking at the tweets from a certain Breakfast presenter:
Anyone celebrating a birthday today? Best musical present if so? And do keep your suggestions for ace free stuff to do coming!
Anyone listening to from any far-flung places today?
Kettle's on, toast's in, I'll be easing us into Sunday breakfast with a whisper of Russian: some shimmering Rach Vespers from 7.
Dame Nellie Melba was born this very day in 1859! Completely spine-tingling to hear this *Mozart record from 1910!
Morning folks. Back on yer wireless with music to celebrate 11th-C Persian philosophy, the death of Mahler, holidays & much more!
*Could this give the impression that Mozart was recording in 1910?
