Bartok's 'Romanian Dances' YET AGAIN.... They've become a 'switch off radio' piece for me, having been lazily programmed to extinction of interest by R3 morning "planners" - in the same category as *uckeroo Holiday and Hoe Down...

And that Grieg 'Homage March'... What a tedious bombastic thing - once had to play it in a youth brass band, all the youngsters detested it on first hearing - I imagine 'Breakfast' 's 5 - 8 year-old demographic will have been turning off in their droves...

I've not heard the Romanian Dances on R3 for ages. And I rather like the Sigurd Jorsalfar Homage March (there's more to it than mere bombast, I think). Does this make me an intellectually subnormal 5-8 year-old? If so, that would presumably explain why I have yet to master the art of the emoticon overload.

Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag" - or indeed any Joplin - has to be one of the most tedious "favourites". I've heard it twice in two weeks - and my R3 listening is very sparse these days.

I very much dislike music with names that are not clear over the 'phone.Years ago someone asked for the Sigurd whatsit at the library and I'd never heard of it. Well the orchestral parts were labelled 'Homage March'. So Cali,I don't like it either

It's not east to miss the Roumanian Dances on R3, I think that's its 5th or 6th appearance of the year so far (I'll check later). It usually occurs about 15-20 times a year. Sadly it accounts for a fair portion of the Bartok broadcast by R3 these days, as his music is still very much underplayed by the current regime.

As I have been snowed intoday, I havnt listened to Radio 3 all day! Had my own selection of Renaissance and Barogue music on. Monteverdi, Rigati, JSB Josquin, Biber Cavalli, etc.

Well I have a North American accent although I don't understand the jibe about Ornate footwear, I am tired of the constant Copland replay. But my rock bottom moment for today was the playing of the Carnival of Venice, a piece I detest, with the presenters comment that it was a delicious way to start the day...... not.

The shoe thing I understood to be a play on the North American way with the word 'Baroque'.... and punning with the name of the following footwear http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brogue_shoe
