Maybe we were being unfair in our constant criticisms?

But, no, the criticisms are justified. This was quite dreadful.

      Patronising drivel.

"Thank you for your tweets and text messages" and "Thank you for your excellent company".
How can the listeners be excellent company when we are stuck at home and Clemency Burton-Hill is stuck in a Radio 3 studio?

Do they assume we are stupid?

      And then the trailers.

      Is it getting even worse?
In general, the people at the top (not just R3 !) need as many people as possible to behave as if they are stupid, otherwise our "leaders" are in big trouble.

Hence culture being marginalised or "dumbed down". Which sounds like a gross generalisation, but seems a fair assessment to me.

It all rather begs the question "what is Soileduk anagram of or acronym for"?

I mean, people tell me that spending time on a radio 3 forum is a bit odd * but i didn't think I would encounter this kind of stuff.

                * sad , envious people, of course.

Apologies teamsaint, and all; couldn't resist my off topic hilarious answer to your question.
I don't listen to Breakfast - not that I don't have some thoughts anyway! - but it's far far too early for me.

I note an exchange on Facebook where it was outrageously alleged that the weekend Breakfast programmes were among the two worst programmes ever to be on Radio 3.

A listener disagreed: it was accessible and enjoyable and R3 is now his family's station of choice, including that of his children aged 8 and 5. None appears to know much about classical music. So it's official: Radio 3 IS for children, people who find grown-up programmes difficult and those who know nothing about classical music ... How are the mighty fallen!
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                          It's all very sad indeed.

That's usually the great saving grace for me too

no, I don't think we should be encouraging children to listen to classical music

                              a very bad influence

On the other hand, two and a half hours every morning, just when the biggest audience wants to be listening surely seems excessive? What about the grown-up audiences? How about a special programme for children - sort of like Pied Piper?
