Is there anything we can do about the repetition of such wonderful works.? Switching off is giving in to the people who are doing this to R3.
Not sure about that, saly. If you keep listening there's nothing in the statistics that says you're yelling at the radio half the time. A lot of CFM listeners will be attracted over to boost the listening figures. Perhaps you should stop listening for a while until R3 has come back to an appreciation of its audience.

On Saturday, Martin Handley gently eased us into the day with Mussorgsky's evocation of dawn over the Moscow river, and within a few minutes, the sounds of Bax's November Woods provided an aural counterpart to the misty morning which was dawning around us. Other rare and fascinating repertoire included Moeran's 1st rhapsody.
Happens too often for it to be a coincidence. There must be some R3 people left in the mornings with a soul ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

      Someone has tweeted:

"Zadok the Priest bursts onto an astonished Tuesday! " I presume he has a sense of humour

Perhaps someone called Henry will tweet in to the programme: "Who will rid me of this turbulent Priest?"

        Not Breakfast, that's for sure....

I couldn't think of getting up & ready to leave without R3 on, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's good for me. Much better to get in the car in a relaxed and calm state of mind...........

And, forgive me if this has been done to death before (it must be, in a thread of 170 pages), but what is this Specialist Classical Chart all about? And, more inportantly, who cares?

Anyone who lives in Rochester, Kent is bound to have the right ideas. As someone from Sidcup, Kent, being dragged into Greater London, I agree with your post. Antongould may be able to explain the significance of the Specialist Classical Chart. I switch off when the lists begin to come.

Anton: I have just had to address a letter to your part of the world - well sort of ("Tyne & Wear" is on the envelope!). Is "The River Quarter", Sunderland as scenic as it sounds, or a sort of commercial / retail zone? Are you familiar with it?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

As the members of the AA thread may recall I spent my formative years in Rochester.........but I am afraid I cannot really help with the significance of Breakfast's Pick Of The Pops although I do listen to same.

Not sure - but maybe it makes a few bucks for the BBC. It can be quite useful in directing one to interesting new releases. If I hear it, I hear it - if I miss it I don't go chasing the podcast.

Shamefully although we live less than 10 miles away I known very little of Sunderland - now if we are talking Fenwicks and Newcastle

I download the podcast each week, and do listen from time to time now that the list seems largely free of the Rieus (Rieux?) of this world. I agree, it can be an interesting way to hear new releases that don't figure on CD Review. The advantage of the podcast is that anything unpalatable can be swiftly fast-forwarded past....

River Quarter, a £10 million mixed-use development constructed adjacent to Sunderland’s multi-screen cinema and casino, boasts panoramic sea views and exceptional accommodation. Set right on the mouth of the River Wear and within easy reach of a stunning coastline, River Quarter is a unique and contemporary City Centre development.

This 11 storey building has on its ground and first floor, a 28 lane bowling alley complete with a café and modern bar area. There is allocated parking for all residents in the secure car park. Floors 3 to 11 consist of 53 luxury apartments, all benefiting from an array of high quality fixtures and fittings. Many of the apartments include either a roof terrace or balcony.

Depends on your taste, I guess!

Thanks OG.... Did you copy the text from somewhere, or (if it is your own) are you in estate agency? The tone of those two paragraphs is note-perfect!

The specialist chart is one bit of "Breakfast" I don't mind. Although it would be better if they didn't say "specialist Classical chart" quite so often.

I think it should be done in the style of a 70's Radio 1 DJ though.
                                But not THAT one !!
