Dreadful, and look who's back next week! Are we sitting comfortably? Seriously Radio 3 used to be a calming influence whilst driving but now, in the mornings I can't listen as I just get angry and my driving suffers! Yesterday, in the car, I had CFM on with John Suchet and I have to say, apart from the adverts and BCs, it was enjoyable and no silly guessing games! Andy

Well given breakfast plays the same 50 tunes over and over again I guess he thinks that even the most inattentive listeners recognise each piece by now.

Andy, I had just the same experience yesterday. I thought 'this is making me feel angry and ill and that's not how I want to start the day'. Time to install a new set of CDs in the car's player and avoid choler.
Does SM-P have such a low opinion of listeners not even possessing basic GCSE French that she has to translate "Jardins dans la Pluie" for us? I have no objection to translations of more abstruse languages, but surely we should be given the titles in the original tongue.
However, a more egregious sin was the truly jarring note of seguing Debussy with "Rejoice in the Lord "; I would dearly love to know the thought processes (if indeed there were any) of whoever dreamed that justaposition up.
Risked drifting from TTN into Breakfast, only to be enraged by two items played in the first half hour without any introduction; and in the first case, without mentioning the composer (Berlioz) at all.

I like no pre-announcement of items, so that if it happens to be a piece I don't know I can have a guess as to composer or country or date - I think it makes me listen more attentively.
I tuned in to R3 at around 8:30 Sunday morning, expecting to hear something of a gentle and ecclesiastical nature, only to find another phone-in taking place - so it's not just the weekdays they are desecrating!

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I don’t possess GCSE in French. Come to that I don’t possess any GCSEs. And what are ‘abstruse languages’ in your list? I imagine it is somewhat different from mine.
I’m not sure if that is a particularly necessary point to criticise. At least where Breakfast is concerned.

DS, it gives the erroneous (IMO) view that the piece was given an English title by its composer, and falsely perpetuates a little Englander vision of the world which, surely, we should be trying to dispel. Of all nationalities, a Frenchman is probably the least likely to commit such a sacrilege (Golliwog's Cakewalk notwithstanding)!
