I suspect for a fair few listeners rather too much "not R3 content".
And yes I do appreciate that people gave up their Christmas Day to provide the programme, but I'm afraid the effort was partly at least wasted, even on this listener, who as several forumites will know has dubious and undiscriminating tastes.
    * Should be on the list with Lanza and the Watersons!

Not Petroc’s finest four hours methinks - seemed to try to find alternative treatments of many Christmas tunes - many of them better left unheard - but as it’s Christmas I’ll be charitable as others may have loved it. I did, however, discover that Alexa can mute and unmute - just shows what a smart speaker she is.
Just watching the Two Ronnies - Katie Melua (I think she is more pop than jazz ) sang a rather tasteful ‘Have yourself a merry little Christmas) accompanied by a string quintet!

I sampled Petroc's offering - after all it is Christmas and nought else was on offer - but quickly determined it was mishmash of part items interposed between vox pop, so switched off - can't see anything worth listening later so will keep with my CD collection, I guess not being a drinker removes the usual antidote to the BBC's saccharine Xmas.

This is the Breakfast forum after all...

        ...silliness is to be encouraged!

BTW, has anyone else noted this forum has now entered its one thousandth page. I think Anton is to be congratulated!

Of course anton should be congratulated - the voice of reason - the rest of us are mere hangers on!

Tempo changes in the Schubert 5 finale played at the end of Breakfast this morning rather eccentric - sas ghis how FS wrote it? Rene Jacobs if anyone was listening - he tends to pull Mozart’s late symphonies about a bit too if my memory serves!

Well, that didn't last long! Now demoted to 992...

...I do see the need for recategorisation of these discussions though.

Let’s hope the points deduction won’t spoil anton’s season!

Do I detect a currant of dissatisfaction?

The existential problem with this thread is that it is not eternal , no longer in a new place, or indeed much of a debate ?

The debate is whether Breakfast is a Good programme or a Bad programme, and is potentially eternal, in the sense that it may never be resolved (or indeed revolved, much like the discussion!)
