Ditto. But in answer to EA, their disproportionate presence in the morning schedule means that they will feature in comments more than might otherwise be desirable.

IMHO a well-spoken presenter who clearly knows what he or she is talking about and encourages a spirit of personal camaraderie among his or her listeners adds immeasurably to the overall enjoyment and value of a programme. Listeners to 'Breakfast' are truly blessed in that they are currently in the more than capable hands of Georgia Mann, without whom I would very probably not have visited 'Jollity Farm' and had my spirits lifted, thereby countering all the gloom generated by a lot of what's going on in the 'real' (?) word these days. Conversely, although I HAVE tried - VERY hard - to listen to Tom Service or Elizabeth Alker, I've come to realize that I just don't want to discover what they're talking about.

We hardly ever talk about the presenters of Through the Night except for a burst of praise from time to time because the programme is working and there are no issues to talk about. We talk about presenters when the programme is not working and the presenter seems to be the main problem. We talked about Breakfast day and night when it had phoning in and other ‘listener participation’ tricks. I’m sure it was at least partly the result of the massive effort french frank made at the time that those irritants were dropped.

The presentation of TTN by Jonathan Swain, Catriona Young and John Shea is nigh on perfect.

It's shame that 'TTN' is not on 'Through the Day'!

I'm extremely happy with those 3 presenters too.

Through the morning as well perhaps, but I wouldn't want to do without CotW, lunchtime recitals, afternoon concert, CE, etc...

As I was walking out of the house this morning leaving Mrs T with Breakfast, I heard (?) Georgia Mann reading out a tweet from someone about their cat which had just projectile-vomited.

Are incoming tweets moderated or filtered by the studio producer, or do they go straight to the presenter, I wonder?

I think the cat may have been reacting to the goings on in the 'Jollity Farm' mash-up. As a felixophobe (?) I can't say I feel sorry for the pet in question.

... felix is Latin. If you want a Greek word to match the Greek ...phobe - the technical term is ailurophobe.

I wonder too, at what's in their heads at the BBC!

I try to learn a new word every day, so thanks for that!
(I was actually trying to avoid saying straight out that 'I hate cats', which I do because they kill birds and appear incapable of displaying affection).

But cats are not dogs and many birds kill birds (sorry. Of topic).

Ailurophobia is defined as "an irrational fear or hatred of cats"...

... Your hatred sounds entirely rational to me LMcD
