Not much else to do in Manchester, then...

... this is billed by Manchester Evening News as News > Greater Manchester News > Fun Stuff

Balham will never be BAL HAM, however Peter Sellers presented it; but Ba'ersea will always be Ba'ersea in my book.

                      TERRIBLE NEWS....

Martin is going to be presenting only Sunday Breakfast... and from next weekend Elizabeth Alker will be presenting on Saturdays.

I've expressed my views on her before: I won't be listening on Saturdays. That's a big loss for me.

I, too, am grieving. Slowly and surely, there are fewer reasons to listen....

I feel sorry for Ms Alker. She's entitled to earn a living, and to be the subject of such unappreciative opinions must be dispiriting (should she be aware of them) . She is, however, completely unsuited to any playlist programme on Radio Three. They need to deploy her elsewhere... But there again, R3 management know we hate the imposition of these styles of presentation/incompetencey and they don't care (the Milwall chant). We are the past, they only care about the future.....

Does Martin Handley have to present the programme from Salford? Is that a long journey for him. Would he rather not be located in the NW on Saturday afternoon/evening. Did he voluntarily give up the Saturday slot. (I always assumed Ms Alker appeared when Handley was, for whatever reason, taking a break - but what do I know? - well actually what I know is that I'll need to have another standby for early morning on Alker days).

Perhaps Handley is off to 6 music.

For me, Martin Handley is one of the very best R3 presenters.
