Yes, totally but totally unlike the one we heard from 'another sop' earlier in the day!! Real CB at her best.

I don't like to be unkind, but listening to Jamie Barton singing 'Um Mitternacht' was a far from enjoyable experience. To put it in non-technical terms, I don't think she has a 'big-enough' voice for at least this particular song. The pianist also sounded pretty disengaged.

Having heard Elizabeth Alker presenting Breakfast this morning, it’s almost made me think that all other R3 presenters are actually fine. It was all so excruciatingly embarrassing to hear a rank amateur presenting on a major BBC channel. Even KD is sounding excellent at the LNOTP in comparison. As I have a northern accent of sorts, her accent doesn’t trouble me, but I was cringing as she talked about Derrick Cock.

I share your views on EA's (lack of) presentational skills. May I recommend that you switch to Channel 4, where the reruns of 'Frasier' offer many examples of witty scripts delivered with style.

On waking I put Radio 3 on for all of, oh, perhaps eight seconds. I find that sing-song, rather smug delivery absoutely intolerable.

"Even KD is sounding excellent..." - Dammed with faint praise. Sadly we are now at a point with R3 that for comparison purposes we are reduced to working with the lowest common denominator.

              Derrick Cock! I like it.

Actually KD was as bad as ever - simpering, giggling, over-hyping the music/performers the same as ever. It's all relative.

To be fair she is an Honorary President of Bacup Borough FC, and I’m sure she can pronounce it beautifully, which is more than I can do ....

Let 'Breakfast' provide you with a quick and simple escape from all the Br*x*t madness by returning you, if only briefly, to happier times. 'Puffing Billy' and 'The Runaway Train' may not represent the acme of public service broadcasting, but hearing them just now after many years has cheered me up no end!

I too enjoy those light music works. And they play them in their entirety... I hope.

You've given me a great idea: to use foreign accents to convey the nearest approximation possible to specific regional pronunciations. Thank you for that, EA.
