Paul Drayton, composer. I did wonder whether it was a pseudonym of Petroc Trelawny or LeMartinPecheur. but I see he is a different Cornwaller.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Contrary to my expectations, I think Alkers is doing a decent job presenting afternoons.
Seems to be well prepared, and has a good fact - led approach.

Happy to be put right though......

Ok, so that was before the interview with Mark Simpson.

          Oh dear.......

The lesson from which must surely be that attention to detail and presenting a playlist is one thing, running specialist programmes requires a deeper understanding.

I think Eliza and the Oysterband put it more poetically and tunefully than I can.

Incidentally, would you like me to start a new thread moaning about the standard of R3 presenters, and the random times that they pop up in the schedules, presumably just to confuse the listeners ?

We could call it "Mr McGregor's garden", or something.

I'm sure I heard Rachmaninov's third piano concerto being announced, and then followed by a recording of Ravel's "Jeux d'eau" this morning. I thought: eh?? It was pretty early on in Breakfast, and admittedly I'd only just woken up. or I thought I'd woken up.

That happens to me all the time SA - and when I’m fully awake, to boot. My defence is that I am rather hard of hearing at the best of times.

Bagpuss segues into Brahms courtesy of 'The Wicker Man' - what's not to like? I've contacted Georgia to suggest she fits in a quick burst of 'Summer is icumen in'.

                        Lap-dissolved chunks now.

But it’s a refreshing change to have decent speech delivery on Breakfast, without poor punctuation, gasping, giggling and attention-seeking.

It's probably a failing on my part, but if I really have problems with a presenter's voice and what he or she does with it, I'm more than likely to switch off. I think that those of us who find that the good ship 'Breakfast' offers the right kind of musical melange for its time slot are fortunate to have Petroc and Georgia at the helm.

I think of it more as a plastic toy boat.

But Georgia’s the best of the bunch. SK’s now taken over and the ship has well and truly sunk. I have switched off!

I hope the GM fans were listening this morning we had .....

                                1) more bloody Bagpuss
                                2) What she referred to as Bernstein’s Summertime “sung” by the Zombies

She eventually corrected herself by saying that it was of course Gershwin’s Summertime “I knew that”, in the best SK schoolmarm manner ....

She seems to be tweeting and responding to tweets all the time she is on air ..... is this wise ..... ..... ?????
