Were not the first of them martyrs? I'm a keen choral singer, and loathe these arrangements - Lux Aeterna (Nimrod) Agnus Dei (Barber Adagio for Strings) - and now another one to avoid.....
(Glad to say the choirs I sing with don't go in for these, but the offspring's choir does - had to endure Lux Aeterna three times in 18 months ).
