In principle. Sadly R3 as a source of purely musical interest/satisfaction is a thing of the past for me. I did listen to Prom 42 last night, but only to the first half . Too many other things to do nowadays.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I will hope but not expect...
Within reason chirpy on a Saturday I can cope with - it's Sunday Breakfast chirpiness that irritates.

Might give it a try after years of avoiding Saturday Breakfast. I used to love Radio 3 on Saturdays (going back 15 or so years) but now I find them a desert apart from Record Review but which is now at an inconvenient time.

I must say I found Kate Molleson to be a fine 'stand-in' for Petroc while he's been up in Leeds.

I'm afraid I'm not a fan of Ms Molleson.

I've only just recently started listening to Sunday Breakfast with Tom McKinney and I have to say that I really enjoy his selections.

Of course it IS "just me" . But I'm at a loss to understand how (literally: how people do it) people are listening to even a short selection of music from 19 pieces which wander through Bach to Billy Strayhorn, via Grieg, Johann Strauss II and Robert Farnon. Even a good (tbd) presenter can't do much with that (e.g. The Peanut Polka followed closely by Flow My Tears). If it's all "music", bring on the grime and disco pop.

I might be tempted to seek the first of this morning's selection ...

I think she always performs well ….. but of course that is only IMVVHO

Yes, it does seem to jump around a lot.
I heard a bit of the enjoyable Weber while getting breakfast ready, but was spared the Peanut delights (topping up the bird feeder) & came back to the Dowland. Yes, R3 can turn in to (morning) background music for me, even briefly - & the off-button is rarely far away.

Was it "Al alva venid buen amigo" from "Music From The Time Of Columbus"? Have you, also, developed a bad case of Bottulism?

Your guess probably better than mine. The only details on the R3 playlist are

                          Al alva venid buen amigo
Performer: Tom Finucane. Singer: Catherine Bott. LINN.

I have fond memories of our delightful erstwhile forumista Ms CB.

Now I'll have to scour the forum for Catherine Bott posts.

I think it is that one, track 18 - both CB & TF are on the back of the 1992 CD.

They should be here if the link works.

                                Brilliant.

Just reading a fascinating thread on "The Treaty of Utrecht" EMS with contributions from CB, ardcarp & MickyD. That's my listening sorted for the next hour, thanks.
