And it's from a Radio 3 broadcast too! From 1986. The CD even includes a libretto and Bush's trumpet concerto.

On the old BBC board there was an elderly lady who remembered Geoffrey Bush, as she used to work for a London publisher and met, among others. Ralph Vaughan Williams and 'Dr. Ireland' as he liked to be called. She told us how G Bush was irritated by being confused with the 'other ' Bush (Alan , of CPGB fame ) , not to mention the Busch's , William, Adolf and Fritz!

The name rings a bell, but my memory for names is appalling. You're probably right.

She was probably picturing Enescu roamin' the countryside searching for folk tunes.

She also has an excellent microphone style, and an exquisite sense of how much silence to leave at the end of a piece before her back announcement.

But don't you find her voice.....what shall I say, a mite emphatic? She sounded flustered at times too....probably due to the mistakes. I thought the whole thing a bit amateurish. Plus point is, she's not as bad as Alker.....nice to see Skellers behind the microphone for tonight's concert....Sounds says presenter is Alker....saved again by Skellers!

She sounds bright and enthusiastic but I find she has a habit of ending her announcements in a kind of whisper which, unless one's listening on headphones or a good hi-fi set-up, means that important bits of info get lost. It's not a great microphone technique IMHO.

On 'Advert Watch' this morning - why else would I be listening - I notice adverts at c. 8.20 and c. 8.40. Jacko's words are ringing in my ears, 'typically you won't hear more than one advert in one hour'
Perhaps it's one of those atypical hours......AGAIN!

Update. Another at 9.10, making it.....after a recount.....3 in one 'atypical' hour!

I used to listen just to check whether it was bad a some were reporting, but when I realised how annoyed I was getting I switched off. And bit by bit got to the point where I never switched R3 on at all. All right if all you want is light entertainment - I prefer thinking
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Yes, but it was 'thinking' that led me to the notion that I might try the Breakfast Show again. Now I've proved my point vis-a-vis adverts it's back to YLE!
